Turns out they’re 4x114.3 and not 4x108 like seller said, and 3 of them are also buckled/bent. Yay. Atleast they were cheap i guess.

that’s why you should have bought wheels, not just rims.

The spice Celica must flow.

Hah, true. But i also feel that Rims is correct given that all 4 tyres are at the wear indicators or dry rotten.

wheels don’t include the tires. A rim is just the outer part of the wheel. Sorry, imprecise language is one of my pet peeves. I’m an engineer, go figure.

That’s what I’m hoping to fix today. The Celica has been flowing... out of the radiator. so I got a secondhand one that supposedly doesn’t leak.
and I have to helicoil one of the bolts for the intake manifold, as I managed to strip the threads on one putting the damn thing in.

With my project, I still haven’t torn down the engine to see if I’ve got ovalled or dropped liners - too busy with body work. The timing chain is stretched beyond imagining, so I’m expecting at least some bore wear. Buy a known good engine? Now that’s crazy talk.

I don’t feel like letting imprecision on *that one* bother me, because the definition of “wheel” often used to include the hub as well and doesn’t usually anymore, making “wheel” less precise than one would want even without considering tire + wheel inner = wheel combination. I know we call the inner a wheel, but it isn’t *really* a wheel functionally until everything’s there. Also, the difference between something with a super-large lug pattern and minimal web and a true multi-piece wheel starts to get really narrow at some point.

All that is to say, as a colloquialism saying “rim” to mean “rim + web” bothers me not at all, though I personally don’t.

I think it boils down to me preferring the people who tend to say wheel over the people who tend to say rim. The people ruined the word for me.

“They don’t fit, and they’re bent to hell, but I got a great deal on them!”

I’m an european, this is standard size for alot of cars.. The Mini eco cars run like 155/65/14 i think? They might be going on dad’s Ford Escort RS2000, same model as mine.

If you were in the area i’d gladly sell them to you just to know they’d be put to use after a nice bit of care and some fresh paint, but i doubt shipping is even sub-1k... I did consider selling them to some japanese car owner, but with them being bent and this bad condition i really doubt it’ll be possible..
